so my son accidentally broke a brand new massive glass bottle of olive oil around midnight last night when he got home from work…
the whole bottle.
smashed on the floor.
then tried to mop it up 🤦🏽♀️
(because glass i guess)
naturally the oil spread everywhere.
oil and glass every.fucking.where. 🤦🏽♀️😭
so more mopping.
more oil spread…
11 rounds of mopping.
with oil.
the.
entire.
kitchen…
until 5 am.
😭😂🤦🏽♀️😂
(he was the opener at work this morning and was closing shift last night…)
so i woke up to the Exxon Valdez spill at my bedroom door with 5 minutes before a zoom meeting and Bodhi having a bit of a sleep-deprived anxiety attack b/c he had to be at work in an hour and there was a 1/4” thick slippery sheen to the entire kitchen…
😂😭💔
so yah…
now i’m trying to soak it all up… 🤦🏽♀️
anyone wanna come over and make pizza on my floor? 😂😂😂
i got corn masa, flour, salt all ready to go…
who’s bringing mushrooms and olives?

Update March 13
(for those of you following the living room/ kitch oil spill saga from March 5th…)
you all won’t believe this.
i came home this evening and i walked into the kitchen/livingroom (barefoot) and noticed the floor felt really oily again…
i had seen my son’s girlfriend mop earlier so i was confused…
me: “hey love, did you add alot of dish soap to the mop bucket or something? the floor kinda feels oily or slick like there is something on it and i know you just mopped.”
gf: “no, just water and the wood floor cleaner.”
me: “what wood floor cleaner?”
gf: “the one under the sink…”
me: “…(slightly horrified)… do you mean this?” (holding up spray bottle of wood furniture polish)
gf: “no, the wood cleaner…” (reaches down and grabs a now half empty bottle of food grade mineral oil for cutting board conditioning)
me:

…
explains difference between mineral oil for wood and soap – also that we have wood laminate floor…
(while grabbing micro-fiber mop head which is now soaked in a mineral oil solution)
me:…
(more pregnant pause)
“did you perchance mop under the livingroom rug?”
gf: “yah.” (slightly nervous, kinda sheepishness laughter mixed with a hint of pride and the joy of contributing to life…)
“i actually moved the rug aside and mopped under the rug…”
“…and also the bathroom…”
(more sheepish laughter..)
so i found myself again massaging my relationship with oil and it’s persistent penchant for making messy love to my entire.
livingroom / kitchen.
floor.
nitjing held back.
limitless embrace.
and because i’m not looking to turn my home into an indoor mild weathered skating rink.
i found myself on a quick trip to the grocery because store buying more vinegar and citrus-solv to cut the grease
because we’re out
