Saturday, September 5, 2020, 3:00-5:15 pm pm Pacific (California) / 6:00-8:15 pm Eastern (New York Time)
Time will be spent connecting with fellow UNIDAD members and considering the current stress, tension, and trauma imprint within our community. Experiential learning activities will focus on reducing stress-system activation and include small group discussion, body-based relaxation techniques, accessible movement, and practicing tools to regain calm during moments of distress. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their own stress, tension, and trauma imprint and consider how we may show up for each other to build unity, support, and solidarity together.
Immediately following, we will enter into a virtual listening circle. A listening circle is both a tool and an ancient practice of being-with emergent experience informed by the present moment, open expression, empathic listening, and the personal stories that show up to shed light on our shared humanity. Together, we set a container for community care, embodied awareness, curiosity, creativity, acceptance, story-sharing, and collective wisdom.
Join us!
- Practice stress management techniques
- Develop practical tools and resources to restore calm when overwhelmed and/or triggered
- Relate with the present moment in a way that restores creativity, connection, and spaciousness
- Connect with interesting new friends, participate in a collective of care and receive warm regard
- Bare witness and be witnessed while being embraced wherever you are right now in body, mind, and heart
Connect with fellow UNIDAD members, share your own personal stories, practice a body-based self-regulation technique (or two) and set down our “doing” for 2 hours and 15 minutes of “being with” our selves and each other.
ALL UNIDAD MEMBERS ARE WELCOME.
(This event is free. Donations are welcome and appreciated.) ♥️

Wild Heart Healing Arts
artemisia shine helps people and communities get free.
She is a cis-woman, queer, multi-racial Latinx, healer, single mamma, and coyote medicine maker living on the central coast of California on the unceded lands of the Chumash people. She has a lifetime commitment to examining and interrupting systems of oppression around gender, race, ecology, mental health, and ability. artemisia has a passion for bringing conscious movement, nonviolent communication, and body-based mindfulness to oppressed and repressed communities including incarcerated populations and trauma-impacted people. For over 10 years she’s had a private practice as a trauma-focused healer, somatic therapist, and counselor. artemisia also works as a community organizer, gender justice advocate, social justice activist, lead a climate action community education team, and is a former yoga teacher and violence prevention workshop facilitator within the criminal justice system.
As a lighter-skinned, multi-racial woman of color, she is an “in-between” person. She doesn’t sit on either side of the fence but on the fence itself which gives her a unique perspective, with both the advantages and disadvantages that entails. Her combination of life experiences as a childhood abuse and intimate partner violence survivor and her role as an “in-between person” holding both oppressed and oppressor identities deeply informs her liberation work with people across many different identities.
